Rajinikanth’s latest film, “Jailer,” is currently dominating the global box office. In recognition of the film’s unparalleled success, Kalanithi Maran, the head of Sun Pictures, presented the composer of “Kaavaalaa,” Anirudh Ravichander, with an undisclosed amount and a brand new Porsche car. Sun Pictures officially confirmed these developments through a series of posts on social media.
Prior to this, Maran had generously rewarded Rajinikanth with a share of the film’s profits and a brand new BMW X7 SUV. Director Nelson Dilipkumar also received a check from Maran, along with a brand new Porsche. Kalanithi Maran personally visited Thalaivar at his Poes Garden residence to express his appreciation for the superstar’s hard work in the film and presented him with another undisclosed check. “Jailer” achieved impressive box office figures, earning Rs 3.92 crore on the first day of its fourth week, followed by Rs 3.11 crore on the second day, Rs 4.17 crore on the third day, and Rs 4.56 crore on the fourth day of its fourth week. The film’s total collections reached an impressive Rs 637.79 crore. Film critic and trade analyst Ramesh Bala noted that “Jailer” holds the top spot among Kollywood movies in North America, Malaysia, and the UAE as of Monday.
The remarkable box office success translated into profits of at least Rs 150 crore for Sun Pictures. Produced with a budget of Rs 200-220 crore, “Jailer” is estimated to have generated revenues of Rs 370-390 crore for Sun Pictures. These figures include revenue from pre-sale of all rights and the film’s higher-than-expected collections.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, “Jailer” was released in theaters worldwide on August 10. The film revolves around Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer who goes to great lengths to save his son from a criminal who steals valuable artifacts from Hindu temples.
Backed by Sun Pictures, the film stars Rajinikanth, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, and Vasanth Ravi in key roles. “Jailer” also features Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, and Shiva Rajkumar in significant roles.
